San Borja

z

This is the airplane we took to San Borja...OVER the Andes Mountains!

z

A pic of the western, dry side of the Andes!

z

A short ten minutes later...the Amazon Basin! What a great shot of an oxbow lake!

z

Here I am ready for a day's adventure! A modern-day Indian Jones??

z

This is a small portion of Manfred's property outside of San Borja.

z

These tiny bananas were absolutely delicious! Grown on Manfred's farm!

z

Here I am eating a mango right off of the tree...WOW!

z

Left to right... Manfred's caretaker, Manfred, Victor and Jorge. Great folks!

z

A few of the folks of San Borja enjoying the river on a hot afternoon,

z

Folks, this is really meat fresh off the hoof! This beef is not 15 minutes dead and headed for the markets of San Borja! Notice the head!!

z

This is breakfast in San Borja! This lady is making empanadas and making change for customers at the same time... no Starbuck's here!

z

Here, Jorge is talking with the caretaker of his property about what can be done next with a well that did not produce water.

z

This shot shows how the countryside outside of San Borja looks.

z

On the banks of Rio Maniqui!

z

Jorge showed me this skin of an Anaconda hung in a shop. It was 8 meters long! I could not get it all in the shot!

z

If you look close you wil see a Chimani Indian family traveling downstream on a raft...the preferred mode of travel!

z

This is the END of the road that Manfed is building. The river is just out of sight!

z

Here I am, the tall one, with the Chimanis! What a great experience it was for me to visit with these native peoples!

z

This is one of the Chimani sleeping huts!

z

The Chimani's kitchen!

z

This stream serves many functions for the Chimani. Upstream it provides water for cooking, and further downstream it becomes the bath and laundry.

z

This photo shows one of San Borja's generators. ALL electricity for the town is provided by four generators. During the hot afternoons they shut down!

z

Motorbikes...everone's favorite!
