CIS 101 Intro. to Computer Information Systems
Word Project 1 - Creating and Editing a Word Document
This lab assignment is from the
Introduction to Office 2007 lab book.
Before you get started you will want
to customize your screen and Word to look like the figures in the lab
book. The settings that match the lab book are essentially the
default/preset settings when MS Office was installed on the computer.
If you are sharing a computer with someone else or using a computer in a
lab the settings may have been changed. Appendix E explains the
steps for changing the screen resolution and customizing MS Office 2007.
If your computer screen does not look like the figures in the
book, then refer to Appendix E on how to change the settings. Here
is a list of some of the settings that may have been changed and their
correct settings:
- Screen resolution: 1024 X 768
- Ribbon: default setting from
initial software installation
- Quick Access Toolbar: default
setting from initial software installation
- Word window: maximized
- Document view: Print Layout
- Color scheme: blue
- Read and do the Creating and Editing a
Word Document tutorial, pages
WD 1 - 62.
- Note: on pages 41 - 42 you
are asked to insert a picture in to the flyer. You will need
the following picture file:
horse&rider
Right-click the horse&rider link and save the file to your USB Flash drive using
the Save Target As command on the shortcut menu.
- Check your work. When you are done
with the tutorial your document should look like figure 1-77 on page
WD 54.
- Write or type the following at the top
of your document:
- CIS 101 Word Project 1
- Class Meeting Day and Time
(example: Friday 9:00 AM)
- Your Name
If you want to type it at the top of the
document you can do this by inserting a header. The steps for
creating a header are explained pages WD 79 - 80, Headers and
Footers.
- Save your file one last time.
- Submit your homework for grading:
Traditional students: Print the homework.
Online students: Upload
the Horseback Riding Lessons Flyer file to the Word Project 1 assignment
in TalonNet.
Be sure to submit/turn in the lab assignment by the
due date.
