CIS 151 Excel For I.T.
Excel Assignment 10 - Templates, Styles, the Web, and Macros
Notes/errors:
Hands-on Exercise 1: Page 633, item d is kind of
unclear. You don't copy the cell, but repeat the steps in b - c
for cells E19 through H19. Item f should read "... select Format
Cells to open the Format Cells dialogue box." Page 634,
item b be sure that you save the template file to your flash drive, not
the ...\Microsoft\Template folder on your hard drive. Page 635,
item a be sure to save the file to an Excel workbook file type of .xlsx
not a template file format.
Hands-on Exercise 2: Page 646-647, your results will
look different from those shown in figure 10.31. That is because
of two things. One reason is that the date in cell B1 is the
current date and it will affect the days held calculation in column I.
The second reason is that the stock prices will be the current prices
from the Web query. Therefore columns F, G, and H will have
different values than those shown in the figure. Page 647, item d,
you may get an error when you test the hyperlink. Try
http://corporate.disney.go.com.
Page 648, item f the stock.jpg file should be on your flash drive as
part of the original data files you downloaded.
Hands-on Exercise 3: Page 661 after item a you may not
see the VB Code window. In the Project Explorer window on the
left-side of the screen, click the + sign on the Modules folder to
expand the list. Double-click the Module1 file to open the macro
up in the VB Code window. Page 662, item f be careful that you
don't click the Use Relative References, just verify it that it is NOT
selected. If you click, then click it again until it is NOT
selected. Page 663, item c is correct for Windows XP users.
For Windows Vista select Show Windows Side by Side. Page
664, step 6 if you get a macro security warning message, then you have
two options. One is to close and reopen the file and then click
the Security Warning Options... button and the option "Enable this
content." Or, you can click the Developer tab, Macro Security,
Enable macros option. You may still need to close/reopen the file
in order for the security setting to take affect. Item e. should
read "Click cell A1 to deselect the button." This will put
you in the correct cell to test your button.
