UC Berkeley

 

Cal Bears Scholarship

The Cal Bears Scholarship is UC Berkeley's largest scholarship program for undergraduates. Each year, nearly 4000 students receive a Cal Bears Scholarship.  The Cal Bears Scholarship is awarded to new and continuing students on the basis of both academic merit and financial need. Monetary Award.  The Cal Bears Scholarship monetary award is coordinated with the financial aid package each year.  Award in one year does not guarantee continuation of the Cal Bears Scholarship in subsequent years. The Financial Aid Office will notify you if you are eligible for a scholarship or other financial aid.

 

Regents' and Chancellors' Scholarship Program

The Regents' and Chancellor's Scholarship is UC Berkeley's most prestigious scholarship, and is awarded annually to approximately 200 incoming undergraduates, including freshmen (for four years) and entering advanced standing students (for two years). Approximately 800 Scholars (new and continuing) are enrolled at Cal each year.  The prestige of the Regents' and Chancellor's Scholarship begins with the initial honor of being chosen for the award and honored at the Chancellor's residence at a fall reception.  Further networking with faculty and fellow Scholars throughout one's academic career at Cal results in lifelong beneficial associations.

 

The Achievement Award Program

Replacement of student loan and work/study component of financial aid package up to a maximum of $5,700 per year.  The Award is renewable for a total of 8 semesters for a total of 4 semesters for junior transfers if the scholar fulfills his/her responsibilities. Average number of awards each year is 20-25.  Selection Criteria:

• Ability to offer unique perspectives, skills or talents to the Cal community.

• Demonstrated academic and personal growth in spite of difficult learning and/or living environments.

• Interest and enthusiasm in participating and assisting outreach and college preparation programs.

• Past and/or current community service.

UC Irvine

 

Regents' Scholarship

The Regents' Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship UC Irvine offers to advanced standing transfer students entering from a California Community College (for two years).  The Regents' Scholarship meets the recipient's full financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, up to the full cost of attendance at UC Irvine. Students with no financial need receive a minimum monetary award.  The amount of the monetary award is established each year.  Transfer Regents' scholars are eligible to renew their scholarship for one additional year (for a total of two years).  To renew the scholarship, students must:

• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25

• Complete a minimum of 12 units per quarter

 

Chancellor's Achievement Scholarship

The Chancellor's Achievement Scholarship is awarded to transfer students who have demonstrated a strong academic record while attending a California Community College.  The amount of the award is established each year.  Transfer Chancellor's Achievement scholars are eligible to renew their scholarship for one additional year (total two years).  To renew the scholarship, students must

• Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0

• Complete a minimum of 12 units per quarter

 

XIV Dalai Lama Endowed Scholarship

The XIV Dalai Lama Endowed Scholarship was established in honor of His Holiness' visit through donations from private citizens who define leadership as it relates to ethics, peace and positive national and global relations.  UCI Dalai Lama Scholars will accrue knowledge and experience to become ethical, peace-building leaders as they enter the workforce and move out into the community.  If selected, the student will receive a an award of up to $7,500 for UCI fees and up to $2,500 to support his/her project costs.  Eligibility requirements:

• Must have completed a minimum of 90 units of UCI-accepted coursework

• Must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative UCI grade point average

• Commitment to one or more of the following areas: ethics, compassionate leadership, local and global responsibility, and/or peace

• Contribution to campus and community service

• Submit completed and signed application (with required essay)

• Submit two letters of recommendation

UCLA

 

TAP Scholarship Process

$5,000 per academic year (3 quarters). The scholarship is renewable for a second academic year if the awardee:

• Maintains a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA;

• Completes an average of 15 units per quarter (minimum 45 units per academic year);

• Completes a research requirement in the major (minimum four units of HC 99 or 199).

 

 Regents Scholarship

All Regents scholars are considered for a $5,500 honorarium regardless of financial need.  300-350 transfer students are invited to compete for the Regents scholarship each year and have, historically, maintained a cumulative 4.0 GPA at their prior colleges.  Entering transfer students are awarded a two-year scholarship (6 academic quarters).  If a Regents scholar has additional financial need beyond the $5,500 honorarium, the scholar will be awarded university scholarships and/or grants to cover the remainder of the scholar’s need.

• Scholars must maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA during all quarters of attendance to retain the Regents scholarship.

• Scholars are required to enroll in a minimum of 12 units/ quarter during their tenure as a Regents scholar and must make satisfactory progress towards a baccalaureate degree.

 

Blue and Gold Scholarship

Each scholar receives an award ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 annually for four years.  Transfer students are offered a two-year scholarship.

• Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress and 2.5 GPA as defined by the UCLA Financial Aid Office

• Students commit to performing 20 hours in outreach participation activities. Your service must directly serve K-12 or Community College students in an academic or college bound capacity.
