Kognito "At-Risk" - 3 Training Opportunities Available

at-risk (kognito)Student Health Services and the Veterans Resource Center has launched a new on-line interactive simulation training program, Kognito At-Risk, to help support students' mental health and maintain a healthy environment on our college campus. The goal of this program is to significantly increase the number of individuals on our campus who are trained to identify, address, and refer students exhibiting signs of psychological distress including depression, anxiety, and thoughts of suicide.

1. FOR CERRITOS COLLEGE STUDENTS, FACULTY & STAFF and FACULTY & STAFF SUPPORTING VETERANS:

Students: This FREE training will significantly increase the number of students on our college campus who are trained to identify, address and refer students experiencing emotional distress. It is important for us to check in with each other and look out for fellow students that may be struggling academically or emotionally. If you have a friend you are concerned about, participate in this FREE, online training simulation to learn effective referral techniques and what questions to ask.

Faculty/Staff: Our college community is becoming increasingly aware of the amount of stress our students are experiencing and its negative impact on their health and academic performance. To address this concern, we have adopted an online training simulation that will assist faculty and staff to better identify and refer these students to support services on campus. Cerritos College highly recommends that you take this 45 minute course, which is already in use at over 270 colleges and universities.

Faculty/Staff supporting Veterans: Cerritos College is becoming increasingly aware of the unique challenges facing our returning student veteran population, and the negative impact it has on their health and academic performance. To address this concern, we have adopted an online training simulation that will assist faculty and staff to better support our student veterans. In this 30 minute course, you will learn how to manage a class discussion around a veteran-sensitive topic, what resources are available on-campus for student veterans, and how to help a student veteran who is struggling in class.
