bullet Alliance of California Tribes - The Alliance of California Tribes (ACT) is a statewide organization of sovereign tribes who work together to strengthen tribal governments on issues ranging from education, energy, protection of tribal cultural and religious interests and economic development, to healthcare and infrastructure. ACT does not deal with issues relating to Indian gaming.  See especially California Indians an Historical Perspective -   This section reflects the perspective that the history of California Indians serves as a “quintessential lesson of survival and persistence of the human spirit.”  For current events of various California Indian tribes see Tribal Links

bullet A Mission Record of the California Indians A translation by Alfred Kroeber of answers to the 1811 questionnaire sent by the Spanish viceroy to California missionaries asking questions regarding the Mission Indians, their traditions, and conditions at the missions. Missionaries at sixteen missions responded, some more completely than others.

bulletRancho Camulos Museum Extensive information on the history of the Camulos Ranch of Southern California and the museum now located there. Once part of grazing and farmlands attached to Mission San Fernando, it was held by the del Valle family for many decades and became intimately associated with the Ramona legend. Now the property contains an open-air 40 acre museum which has been designated a National Historic Landmark. Information about hours, tours and events, and future plans of the museum are included on the website.

The Harvest Gypsies:  This is a series of articles written by John Steinbeck.  These reflect his research on migrant agricultural workers in California during the Great Depression, and this research provides the basis of his novel, The Grapes of Wrath.
