California State University, Long Beach Liberal Studies Program The Liberal Studies major provides a rich, rigorous cross-disciplinary liberal arts
program of study. There are two programs in the major: 1.) The Integrated Teacher
Education Program (ITEP) is for students intending to become teachers who wish to
combine subject matter preparation for elementary teaching with coursework leading
to a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. 2.) The single subject Credential Program
is for students who seek subject matter preparation for a post-baccalaureate credential
program. Student's in the Track I program have the opportunity to complete a concentration
in a selected area of study.
CSULB College of Education – Elementary Subject Matter Waiver Students who follow the current Core Requirements of the program and graduate under
the major of Liberal Studies at CSULB may now utilize their coursework to meet the
Subject Matter Competency requirement for credentialing, instead of taking costly
Multiple Subject CSET exams. This means that our Liberal Studies students who have
yet to attempt or pass CSETs for the Multiple Subject and/or Education Specialist
Credential Programs will no longer need to take these exams in the state of California
starting July 2017.

teachers an easy-to-navigate map outlining the steps to become a teacher, including
information on teacher salaries, teacher preparation and certification requirements
for all 50 states as well as information on teaching abroad.
ASSIST - Articulation System Stimulating Inter-institutional Student Transfer ASSIST is an online student-transfer information system that shows how course credits
earned at one public California college or university can be applied when transferred
to another. ASSIST is the official repository of articulation for California's public
colleges and universities and provides the most accurate and up-to-date information
about student transfer in California.
Teach California California faces a shortage of special education, mathematics, and science teachers.
With a special focus on these shortage areas, the TEACH California Web site is designed
to recruit teachers to the profession of teaching, explain the teacher preparation
process, assist prospective teachers in creating their plan to become credentialed
teachers, provide relevant content, partner with related public and non-profit entities,
