English 240 Syllabus 

     This class aims to help students develop their creative writing skills.  The class will focus on short story writing, although time will be set aside for poetry.

     Students will be required to complete a portfolio of at least three original short stories.  Before the semester ends, each student will choose one story from his or her portfolio.  He or she will further improve the chosen story, which will then be assigned a letter grade.  That grade will be the grade for the portfolio.  In order to qualify for an "A," students will be expected to submit all stories.  Students are encouraged to submit other forms of creative writing for extra credit.
