Court Reporting Department at Cerritos College

Here at Cerritos College we are instituting a brand new class to teach our court reporting students about the opportunities and requirements in the career of captioning.

 BUSC 193 will begin as a traditional/online class in the fall of 2000.

             Catalogue description

This course is designed to teach students the basics of realtime captioning as applied to broadcast captioning; captioning of video and other media; captioning for hearing impaired at public gatherings, meetings, and in the classroom; captioning over the Internet.  Students will also develop new applications for this new and emerging technology which includes online and offline captioning, as well as open and closed captioning.  This course includes hands-on captioning assignments designed to familiarize students with captioning software and application.
