 | Description: The 30-50 star-like, golden-yellow flowers appear in a cluster on little stalks all arising at the top of the bare, 6-14 inch long stem. Each flower is a sunburst of 6 petals with a light brown stripe down the middle. The stem and two grass-like leaves arise from a corm. Cahuilla and Luiseno Indians ate these corms raw.
Golden Stars prefer sunny, semi-dry conditions in Oak Woodlands and disturbed Chaparral and bloom from April to June.
