Form: Low spreading annual 14 – 16 inches high with bright pink blossoms.
Leaves: Alternate, small, narrow, smooth-edged leaves.
Flower: Bright, glossy, magenta flowers approximately ¾ inch across with 5 petals and 5 sepals.
Blooming: February – June.
Plant Community: Grasslands.
Uses: S. W. Indians used seeds for pinole (flour).
