Reuben is a passionate object maker and has taught at art/craft centers across the country. These schools include the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, and Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. He has been a lecturer at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, San Diego State University, and Cuyamaca College in California.

Being well-acquainted with traditional furniture-making techniques and a digital fabrication enthusiast, Reuben strives to elegantly combine these divergent methods in his studio practice and in the classroom. Technologies that include computer-aided-design (CAD) and computer-aided-manufacturing (CAM) are standard at the industrial level of object making. These technologies offer compelling opportunities in design and are often the source of inspiration for his own work.

Reuben grew up in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, a small town outside of Milwaukee. He discovered a passion for furniture design and making while attending the University of Wisconsin in Madison and has been working in the field ever since.

After his undergraduate studies, Reuben worked as a cabinet maker in the United Kingdom and New England, a furniture restorer in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a furniture designer and maker in San Diego. He earned a Master of Fine Arts degree at San Diego State University with an emphasis in furniture design and digital fabrication. Now, in addition to his studio practice, he is a teacher.
