Ruben Gomez

 

Mr. Ruben R. Gomez worked in law enforcement as a police officer for over 26 years. During the course of his career, Mr. Gomez was tasked with assignments such as: Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, SWAT entry team member, and worked as a detective in Robbery/Homicide, Sexual Assaults, and Family Crimes. Mr. Gomez is also a veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps.

In 2009, Mr. Gomez began his teaching career in a private college. Upon receiving his teaching credential, he began teaching criminal justice courses at a local high school. Mr. Gomez has taught several courses under the Administration of Justice discipline which include: Introduction to Administration of Justice, Constitutional Law, Criminology, Victim Advocacy, Substantive Law, and Search and Seizure.

Mr. Gomez is a product of the community college system, having graduated from Cypress College with an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts. He then earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from CSU Fullerton, a Master’s Degree in Emergency Services Administration from CSU Long Beach, and a second Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Chapman University. Additionally, Mr. Gomez is a graduate of the Delinquency Control Institute at USC. As a lifelong learner, Mr. Gomez recently completed the Certificate in Faculty Preparation: Teaching in Higher Education Program at Humboldt State University. He is also an active member of the American Society of Criminology; as well as the Western Society of Criminology.

He is thrilled to be your instructor and looks forward to sharing his passion and knowledge in criminal justice, and wishes to inspire his students to learn about all aspects of criminal justice; as well as, igniting their passions to also become lifelong learners.
