New Aeronautical Engineering Technology Class Available

Students simulating flight experienceEngineering Design Technology now offers an Introduction to Aeronautical Engineering Technology class.

The introductory class covers the principles of flight, aircraft design, and operations, and the basics of aeronautical engineering technology. Students learn how to perform basic aerodynamic measurements using a computer controlled low speed wind tunnel the College recently purchased thanks to the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Linked Learning (AMTELL) grant.

In addition, students learn aircraft operations, atmosphere, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, and can experience virtual piloting using the Xplane flight simulator. Students can also receive optional assistance in preparing for the FAA written exam for private, recreational, or sport pilot.

The class is taught by Miodrag “Mickey” Micic, Sc.D., Ph.D., M.T.M., CSWP., chair of the Engineering Design Technology department, who holds a commercial pilot certificate and advanced ground instructor rating.
