  • Woodworking Students Gets Real World Skills by Building Board Table

    Woodworking students were recognized for their creativity and hard work in building the new table in the Cheryl A. Epple Board Room at the August 17 board meeting. The students took on the special project of building the new board table in the spring semester as part of the curriculum. “I’m proud of our students that pulled this off and learned real world skills that they can go out and use,” said Tony Fortner, woodworking professor.

    Andrea Alonzo began her first semester at Cerritos College in 2008 taking a basic skills Math 20 course, and she persevered through all of the remedial math courses to join the College’s rigorous, award-winning teacher preparation program Teacher TRAC.   • 1,500 Seniors Attended Linda Sánchez’ Annual Senior Fair at Cerritos College

    Cerritos College hosted Congresswoman Linda Sánchez’ 14th Annual Senior Fair on August 12. Nearly 1,500 seniors and caregivers participated in the free event that featured health screenings, information sessions, legal services and consultations with agencies such as the Social Security Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs and senior advocacy groups...   • Hear My Story Literature Celebration Coming to Cerritos College

    Cerritos College will host a literature celebration event Hear My Story, Know My World on September 9. The event begins with music and refreshments at 8 a.m. Following the opening remarks, Cerritos College’s very own author Paula Pereira will hold a workshop on How to Write and Illustrate Your Favorite Migration Story.   • Cerritos College is Now Authorized Testing Center for Autodesk® 3D Design  

    The Cerritos College Engineering Design Technology Program became one of only three authorized testing centers for the Autodesk 3D design software certification in the greater Los Angeles area. Students enrolled in the AutoCAD® and Inventor® classes can now take the exam to earn the industry-standard Autodesk Certified User and Autodesk® Certified Professional certifications at the completion of the courses.
