Cerritos College to Open New Mathematics/Computer Information Sciences and Fine Arts Buildings on February 15

The Facilities Signal More Growth at Cerritos College

Fine Arts and Mat CIS buildingsWHAT: Thanks to Measure CC (2004) and G (2012) Bond dollars, Cerritos College will celebrate the grand opening of the new Mathematics/Computer Information Sciences (CIS) and Fine Arts Buildings with a ceremony on Wednesday, February 15 at 4 p.m.

The Math/CIS Building is a $23-million project funded by Measure CC Bond dollars and is located in the area previously occupied by the Technology Building. The 33,000-square-foot facility’s first floor supports math faculty, math classrooms, and a study center. The second floor features computer information labs, classrooms, and a study center.  

The new Fine Arts Building is a $33.5-million project funded by Measure G Bond dollars. The facility is a two-story building with approximately 55,000 square feet. The first floor features high-tech equipment such as 3D design/jewelry, printmaking, ceramics, film, and an art gallery. The second floor includes painting/drawing, computer graphics, photography, and mass communication.

There will also be a dedication of the Mathematics/Computer Information Sciences lobby in honor of James D. Woolever, who has taught thousands of students for the past 53 years in the Cerritos College Computer Information Sciences Department.

The event is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
