  • Festival of Asian Cultures Coming to Cerritos College April 19!

     

    The Festival of Asian Cultures at Cerritos College will bring together community and diverse cultures. To celebrate the various cultures of Asia, the event will showcase performances, activity booths, workshops, free food, giveaways and prizes.   • College Breaks Ground on New Health & Wellness Complex

     

    College celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Health & Wellness Complex with a ceremony on April 5. The approximately $51-million project is funded by Measure G Bond dollars and will be located immediately south of Falcon Gymnasium, along the western edge of the campus' athletic precinct. The 76,000-gross-square-foot facility will centralize functions  including fitness labs, cardio workout rooms, training rooms, multi-purpose studios, offices, and the Student Health Center.

  • Retiring Board Member John Paul Drayer Recognized

     

    The College recognized retiring board member John Paul Drayer for his service to Cerritos College at the April 5 board meeting. Drayer was elected to the Board in December 2012, and has served the College in the capacity for four years. Since day one, Drayer took every opportunity to learn more about the students and employees, and the ways the College serves the community.   • David Ward Named Employee Of The Month Of February 2017

     

    The Outstanding Classified/Confidential Employee Selection Committee named David Ward as the recipient of the Outstanding Classified/Confidential Employee of the Month Award for February 2017. Dave began his career at Cerritos College in 1989 for the Fine Arts/Theater division. If you have ever attended a theater production here at Cerritos College, then you have seen Dave’s excellent set designs.   • Job Fair Attracts Hundreds of Attendees

     

    Career Services/Job Placement Center hosted its annual Job Fair on April 6. Nearly 50 employers, including local businesses, government agencies, school districts and Fortune 500 companies participated. Recruiters from each organization provided information on job and internship opportunities to hundreds of attendees during the event.

  • Women's History Month Events Continues 

     

    Women's History Month featured a "When and Where We/Women Enter? Are We Welcome?" presentation featuring speaker Dr. Kathryn E. Jeffery, president, Santa Monica College last week. She inspired participants with a A Conversation on education, social justice, and gender equality. She also introduced great woman leaders in the world.     The musical revue It Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues tells the history and evolution of the Blues music, how it began from African beats and rhythms and what is now known as “traditionals.” Without the blues, there would be no modern country & Western, rhythm & blues, rock and roll, hip hop or rap.
