  • Halloween Office Contest and Trick-or-Treat!

     

    This year’s Halloween Office Decorating Contest is the biggest competition ever with a record 12 participating offices! The winning team will get an office lunch party, courtesy of Public Affairs. Also new this year, students can visit these offices from 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. to trick-or-treat.   • Zombies Take Over Campus

     

    ASCC hosted the annual Zombie Fest on October 26. Many thanks to the zombies performed by the Theatre Arts club members, the Cosmetology club/department for the zombie make-up, and the student volunteers from the Horror Fan Club and the Student Veterans Club! Nearly 750 food items collected at the event were donated to the student food pantry. Congratulations to the Sociology Department for the most amount of donations, Cosmetology for the most amount of survivors, and the Theatre Arts Club for the most amount of zombies!

  • TEDx Conference Returns to Cerritos College; Speakers Wanted

     

    TEDx is returning to Cerritos College on April 3, 2018. The College hosted its first TEDx conference in March 2017 that featured dynamic faculty and community speakers. TEDx at Cerritos College is currently seeking speakers with “ideas worth sharing” around the theme Strength in Diversity. Online applications will be accepted until January 1, 2018...   • Project Runway Contestant Batani Khalfani Uplifts Umoja Students

     

    The Umoja Success Program’s Sister-to-sister Workshop featured a special guest Batani Khalfani from season 6 of Project Runway on October 26. Batani spoke to Umoja students about her career decision and how she landed a spot on the reality TV show. She also shared some style tips. The students were inspired to follow their dreams and pursue what they love.

    Twenty-seven Cerritos College students attended the national Disability Mentoring Day hosted at Los Angeles City Hall on October 18.     Celebrate the Day of the Dead with a live performance and lecture on Frida Kahlo. Mexican Actress Alejandra Flores will bring Frida Kahlo to life through a series of monologues, and Colombian Dancer Beatriz Eugenia-Vázquez will be Frida's alter-ego.
