The Business, Humanities, And Social Science Division Cares

Snack basket at BHSSThe Business, Humanities, and Social Science (BHSS) Division is tackling the issue of food insecurity among students. The dean, faculty, and staff supply an open basket of snacks for students who visit the division offices. Faculty and staff contribute cash and bring in food items so that students can have snacks during their day on campus. Some days, students can enjoy cookies or brownies personally baked by Dean Rachel Mason.

One student mentioned to a faculty member that he loves the apples that are offered. “Having these food items available shows that the division cares about students and their success in a holistic way,” he said.

In addition to this BHSS Division’s efforts, the College has a food pantry for students in the Student Health and Wellness Center and CalWORKS. The ASCC hosts an annual food drive with Zombie Fest.
