Librarian Paula Pereira Pens Second Book
The Cerritos College Librarian Paula Pereira recently published her second book Matt Is a Normal Cat.
Matt Is a Normal Cat highlights the simple, yet fulfilling life of an older immigrant and her cat. With this book, Paula hopes to inspire many to live a fulfilling life. “I hope it will inspire older immigrants to keep moving forward and younger generations to appreciate their seniors,” said Paula.
In 2016, Paula wrote and self-published her first book How I Learned English: The Story of a Brave Mexican Girl. Paula illustrated both of the books herself. Working as the library’s ESL book coordinator inspired Paula to write stories that resonate with immigrants. These fictional tales are based on her experience as an immigrant. Paula sees these books being used by ESL students and a diverse population from young children to adults. She included several activities at the end of the book, so teachers can use them as classroom activities, and readers can engage with the story.
