Oedipus The King Tells Story of Fate and Tragedy

 dOedipus The King

WHAT: Some twelve years before the play begins, Oedipus has been made King of Thebes by solving the riddle of the Sphinx. While he freed the people from one plague, solving the riddle unwittingly fulfilled a prophecy that Oedipus would kill his father, Laius and marry his mother, Jocasta. Now another plague is raging and the people come to Oedipus to rescue them once more.  Oedipus must find out who murdered his father in order to end the plague. Unbeknownst to him, Oedipus is the killer he is looking to find. When the truth comes to light, Jocasta hangs herself and Oedipus gouges out his own eyes.
