2018 State of the College Highlights Progress and Success
Cerritos College hosted its 2018 State of the College on October 29. More than 60 community, business, and K-12 partners attended to learn more about our growing list of progress and success. The State of the College address focused on four core tenets that highlight the College’s efforts to advance student success and its impact on economic growth across the region.
Falcon Day – Team Work Makes the Dream Work
The inaugural Falcon Day, held on November 2 was a great success with nearly 200 participants from faculty, classified/confidential staff, and managers. This year’s theme, “Team Work Makes the Dream Work,” aligned the College's efforts to support students through a unique opportunity to bond as a campus, and help each other succeed in our respective roles. The professional development tracks featured a variety of sessions that were well-organized and creative.
Campus Flooded with Spirits on Halloween
The Halloween Office Decorating Contest keeps growing. This year, we beat 2017’s head count with 121 staffers dressed in costumes. And, once again, the competition was steep with eight participating offices. Our ASCC student judges were blown away by the level of creativity and attention to detail that went into the office decorating competition. It was indeed a hard competition to judge... Campus Celebrates Dia De Los Muertos
Student Club MEChA hosted its annual Dia de Los Muertos celebration on November 1. Clubs displayed altars dedicated to role models and leaders and social activists. The main altar is to honor Sal Castro, Mexican-American educator and activist known for his role in the 1968 East Los Angeles high school walkouts. Campus community enjoyed face painting, food items and goodies for sale.
I am Frida Kahlo Coming November 8-9
Mexican Actress Alejandra Flores will bring Frida Kahlo to life through a series of monologues charged with social and political subtexts. Synchronizing, Colombian Dancer, Beatriz Eugenia Vásquez will be Frida's alter-ego. Performances will be on November 8 and 9, at 8 p.m. in Burnight Center Theatre. Admission is free, and open to the public.
International Education Week Coming to Cerritos College
The fifth annual International Education Week is coming Nov 13 - 16, featuring events that bring awareness to global issues, provide education on various cultures and traditions, festivities, dance, music, and food. Legal Notice Inviting Interested Contractors for the 2019 Formal Bid List
Cerritos Community College District (“District”) is inviting all interested licensed contractors who wish to formally bid construction project at the District to be prequalified for select trades.
