2019 Diversity Awards Ceremony Recognizes Seven Honorees
The College celebrated the 2019 Celebrating Diversity Building Bridges Awards on April 2. The event honored members of Cerritos College and surrounding community for their work and dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, featuring keynote speaker Dr. Alejandro Covarrubias. Forensics Team Wins Third Place at National Tournament
The Cerritos College Forensics Team competed at the Pi Kappa Delta National Convention and Tournament in Hempstead, New York in March. The team travelled across the country to compete with students from 71 colleges and universities. Join Take Back the Night: March to End Sexual Violence April 10
The third annual Take Back the Night on Wednesday, April 10, 6-8 p.m. in Falcon Square. Speakers will discuss the problems and biases surrounding rape and ways to cope while on the road to recovery in order to be able to Take Back the Night. This event will feature a march, candle light vigil, guest speakers, resource fair, and free tacos.
Richard Garcia Named Employee of the Month of February 2019
The Outstanding Classified/Confidential Employee Selection Committee named Richard Garcia as the recipient of the Outstanding Classified/Confidential Employee of the Month Award for February 2019. Richard began his career at Cerritos College as a short term temporary employee in 2009, he was hired full-time in 2012 in the Counseling Department as an Administrative Clerk... Student Health Services Celebrates National Nutrition Month
In celebration of the National Nutrition Month, Student Health Services brought nutritional education to the students of Cerritos College in March through fun and interactive games, including the Nutrition Spinning Wheel of Fortune and the display of Fat Finders. The event also provided information on services available at the Student Health and Wellness Center and free yoga, Zumba, and Mindfulness classes.
Kabarkada Club Presents Filipino Cultural Event
The Kabarkada Club held a Filipino Cultural Event in collaboration with the Filipino Cultural School on April 2. The event featured a presentation on Filipino history and culture, dance performances, and martial arts demonstrations. At the end of the event, participants enjoyed Filipino food.
Festival of Asian Cultures Coming to Cerritos College
The Festival of Asian Cultures at Cerritos College will bring together community and diverse cultures. To celebrate the various cultures of Asia, the event will showcase performances, activity booths, workshops, free food, giveaways and prizes. *While supplies last... Job Fair Attracts Hundreds of Attendees
Career Services/Job Placement Center hosted its annual Job Fair on April 5. More than 40 employers, including local businesses, government agencies, school districts and Fortune 500 companies participated. Recruiters from each organization provided information on job and internship opportunities to hundreds of attendees during the event.
