Chancellor Oakley Visits Cerritos College

California Community College Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley, Board of Governors Members Dr. Kim Perigo and Bill Rawlings, Deputy Council Fermin Villegas, Dean of Educational Services and Support Michael Quiaoit, and Analyst Gary Alexander visited Cerritos College on October 23. The visit was part of the Chancellor’s statewide listening tour. Chancellor engaged in an open dialogue with staff, students, faculty, and administrators, and learned about Cerritos College’s accomplishments, challenges, and plans for future efforts to support student success. Paint the Town in Pink Health Expo and Breast Cancer Walk Raises Funds and Awareness

The College hosted its second Paint the Town in Pink Health Expo and Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on October 24 to celebrate those who have fought the battle against breast cancer. The event was brought awareness to the community about the disease. Guest speakers included board member Zurich Lewis, Larry Sandoval and Lynda Fisher (volunteer) from the American Cancer Society. Cancer survivors Rose Vasquez, Career Services/alumna and Christy Martinez, alumna and Student Affairs Technician, also gave remarks about their survival journey.

Auto Collision Career Fair a Success

The Automotive Collision Program hosted Collision Repair Education Foundation Transportation Career Fair on October 24. More than 100 Cerritos College students and area high school auto collision students had the opportunity to network with industry professionals and employers.

Cerritos College hosted the fifth annual Culinary Arts Extravaganza and Job Expo on October 25. Current students and alumni of the College’s culinary arts program, as well as culinary students from local high schools competed in the sixth annual Marukan Cup of Culinary Excellence. What Does a Chemist Do Event Gives a Glimpse into Chemistry Career

The Chemistry Department hosted the What Does a Chemist Do-Exploring Your Future in Chemistry event on October 22. The day kicked off with the keynote speaker Rick Ziebell, vice president of technology at R.D. Abbott Co., Inc., followed by chemistry career fair with 20 companies including Jones Environmental, LAPD Forensics Lab, Metropolitan Water District, MP Biomedical, Northrop Grumman, and SpaceX.

Pie in the Face Volunteers Needed for Homecoming on November 2

Please consider volunteering to help raise funds for basic needs! We are looking for administrators, faculty and staff to have a pie in the face (whipped cream on a paper plate).  Plenty of spots are available. Zombie Festd

Zombie Fest Returns! Donate Food and Supplies

The annual Zombie Fest on Thursday, October 31 at 11 a.m. in Falcon Square. Zombie Fest was created to address the food insecurity on campus. Students who finish the zombie-infested maze will receive a free shirt while supplies last. ASCC is accepting donations for food and supplies all month to address the food insecurity on campus. View the list of food/supplies
