Campus Members Envision Service Excellence the Cerritos Way at Retreat 

More than 80 employees participated in the Service Excellence Retreat on December 13. Joined and facilitated by keynote speakers Dr. Neal Raisman and Dr. Marylin Newell, participants explored what service excellence means at Cerritos College and why it matters to serve the students through lively discussions, activities and brainstorming to develop a service excellence mission statement for the campus.

Cerritos College Foundation Awards Over $80K to Students This Semester

The Cerritos College Foundation awarded $19,300 in scholarships to 27 Cerritos College students at its scholarship reception on December 5. In addition to the scholarships awarded at the reception, the Foundation awarded $62,650 to students during the fall semester, bringing the total of awarded scholarships in fall to $82,450... Re-Entry Student Receives Carmen Solis Pratt Scholarship

The Cerritos College Foundation recently awarded Diana Navarro of Signal Hill with the $1,800 Carmen Solis Pratt Scholarship. Judge Dan Pratt established the Carmen Solis Pratt Re-Entry Scholarship in 2001 in memory of his mother who valued education, but was unable to attend college herself... Public Affairs Wins Education Digital Marketing Gold Awards

The College's Public Affairs Office was honored with two gold awards by Higher Education Marketing Report’s Education Digital Marketing Awards. The College won gold awards in the Website-Update and Digital Short Video categories with its new website and the Career Technical Education Programs video clip, respectively. The Education Digital Marketing Awards recognizes the best educational websites, digital content, electronic communications, mobile media and social media. Congratulations!

Dr. Haas Interviews Celebrated Musician Arturo O'Farrill on Transcending Borders

Dr. John Haas, assistant professor of history, screened his filmed interview with Arturo O'Farrill, renowned pianist, composer, and educator, on December 10. Arturo spoke about his encounters with music, roots of Afro-Latin jazz, and his latest project Fandango at the Wall that  promotes cross-country friendship. Over 50 artists gathered at the Tijuana-San Diego border to support him and record his album Fandango at the Wall.
