Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Practices
The Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Practices (CRPP) welcomes faculty to join their department colleagues in this significant initiative.
Cerritos College has received the CRPP Innovative Best Practices Grant from the Chancellor’s Office. This grant is designed to "improve learning outcomes through DEIA-minded and culturally competent professional development training for faculty."
The CRPP Initiative supports faculty in transforming classroom designs and addressing systemic challenges that affect teaching effectiveness. Participants will engage in regular meetings to explore issues related to structural racism and bias, learn strategies for decolonizing curriculum and classroom practices, and develop interventions to close equity gaps.
Program Structure and Timeline:
Fall Semester:
- September 6: Toolkit Training on Strategies for Talking About Race and Racism
- September 20, October 11, November 20: Workshops on Decolonizing Curriculum, Pedagogy, and Practice
- 2 Monthly Community of Practice Meetings: Discuss application of training and plan individual pedagogy
- 2 Equity in the Classroom Modules
Spring Semester 2025:
- January 24: Workshop on Decolonizing Curriculum to Support Review of CORs
- April 25: Concluding Symposium
- 1 Equity in the Classroom Module
- 2 Monthly CoP Meetings
Deliverables:
- Cultural Curriculum Audit: Set personal equity goals and plan for implementing CRPP lessons
- An equity-minded syllabus
- A plan for equitable grading practices
- A redesigned assessment applying authentic assessment practices

- Restorative Justice
- Decolonization as a Practice and Approach
- Community Cultural Wealth
Participants Will Receive:
- Three (3) units toward step and column advancement (Appendix D of the CBA) upon completion of CRPP deliverables
- Or, $1500 per semester upon completion of CRPP deliverables
