NEW FEATURES

Canvas Mobile Teacher App – Newly released in July, the Canvas Teacher App replaces the SpeedGrader mobile app. SpeedGrader is still being used in the desktop version. The new Teacher App (available for both Android and iOS devices) has many superior features to the old SpeedGrader app including the ability to modify points, filter by submissions (how many and who has been graded, submitted, and needs to submit) and send messages to those students. In addition through the Teacher App, you can add and edit announcements, quizzes, and assignments.

DID YOU KNOW...

Dashboard Course Cards – You can now click and drag the course cards on your dashboard to place them in the order you wish them to appear.

Rich Text Editor – A new icon has been added to the Rich Text Editor to more easily insert and edit video content. Simply click on the Insert/Edit Video icon (second row on Rich Text Editor) and paste the URL of  your captioned video and then select OK.

CANVAS UPGRADES

ConferNow officially changed it’s name to ConferZoom. If you click on the ConferNow link, you are redirected to ConferZoom. The name change will be reflected on all new courses beginning October 16 (2nd 9-week session).

Coming September 16, when notifications are sent to students, the notifications will indicate they are being sent from the course name rather than from Cerritos Canvas. This change will help students more easily recognize notifications being sent from a specific course.

DON'T FORGET!

Don’t forget that you can change how students’ names are displayed in the gradebook under Settings, Feature Options, “Gradebook - List Students by Sortable Name”. Enabling this feature will display your students last name, first. Please be aware that because Canvas sorts “last name, first name” it may not always exactly match Rosters plus which sorts “last name” then “first name”.
