Cerritos College Foundation Golf Classic Raises Nearly $80,000 for Scholarships

Hole-in-one golfer wins a 2016 Hyundai Genesis

Hall in one golferNORWALK, Calif. – August 16, 2016 – The Cerritos College Foundation’s 31st Annual Golf Classic held on August 1 was a true hole in one. The event raised $78,800 for student scholarships, and for the first time in its 31 years, the tournament had a golfer score a hole-in-one on the prize hole. The winner received a 2016 Hyundai Genesis from the Hole in One Sponsor Norm Reeves Hyundai.

A well-attended field of golfers enjoyed a day of golf at Friendly Hills Country Club in Whittier for a great cause. During the dinner, the Foundation held the annual feature Fund a Scholarship. In total, $6,700 in scholarship donations was collected for foster youth. The live auction also raised $4,100.

“This year’s tournament was a tremendous success,” said Steve Richardson, executive director, Cerritos College Foundation and Community Advancement. “We extend special thanks to Tilden-Coil Constructors as our Title Sponsor and our corporate sponsors for their commitment to come alongside the Foundation in helping students achieve their educational goals.”

The tournament was supported by a number of sponsors, including Title Sponsor Tilden-Coil Constructors and Falcon Sponsor GST, Inc. A long list of corporate sponsors also contributed, including Alta Dena Certified Dairy, Canteen Vending and Office Refreshment Services, Couts Heating and Cooling, Inc., D.C.I. Engineers, Envise Co.,  Frantone’s Pizza & Spaghetti Villa, Gerald P. Merrill Lynch, Mel Smith Electric, and GDL Best Contractors sponsored the annual Helicopter Ball Drop that kicked off the awards dinner. An energetic crowd gathered to see whose winning ball would drop in the hole. This year had only one lucky winner who won $2,000.
