NORWALK, Calif. – September 22, 2016 –  After several months of negotiations, the Cerritos College Board of Trustees voted to approve an employment contract for the Faculty Union (CCFF) during its September 21 Board Meeting. The Board and the Faculty Union came to a tentative agreement on August 15, 2016.

Under the new contract, students have more access to quality learning from both part-time and full-time faculty. Additionally, full-time faculty will receive a 10% salary increase and 16% for part-time faculty over the next three years. The Board’s investment in faculty salaries and health benefits will help the College attract and retain more quality faculty to serve students.

Key provisions of the agreement include:

  • Retroactive pay to July 1, 2015
  • A maximum of $23,500 in health and wellness benefits for full-time faculty. Effective January 1, 2019
  • Increased pay for department chairs
  • Higher office hour pay for part-time faculty
  • Increased pay for faculty with large classes of 55 students or more
  • Seniority rights and retention priority for part-time faculty

“The Board strongly believes that investing in our students is a priority. Their ability to have access to a quality, affordable education remained a key factor during the negotiation process. While at times challenging for all of us, the Board carefully considered how all facets of the faculty’s contract would impact student success in the most beneficial ways. The contract represents the Board’s best effort to ensure that we are helping our students meet their educational goals. We are happy that negotiations are behind us, and we are glad to move forward,”  the Cerritos College Board of Trustees.

The District will continue to advance its student success and completion strategy to reduce the amount of time it takes students to earn a degree or transfer through its Promise Program – Cerritos Complete. The District’s goal is to improve student access to affordable, quality education and job training, and financial stability.
