Cerritos College Foundation Awards Over $80K to Students This Semester

John Moore and Nancy BlancoNORWALK, Calif. – December 16, 2019 – The Cerritos College Foundation awarded $19,300 in scholarships to 27 Cerritos College students at its scholarship reception on December 5. In addition to the scholarships awarded at the reception, the Foundation awarded $62,650 to students during the fall semester, bringing the total of awarded scholarships in fall to $82,450.

Student speaker Nancy Blanco, recipient of the John Moore 1st Step Scholarship, shared words of gratitude to the donors, “thank you for your generosity and support. I promise you we will never forget that there was someone giving us that helping hand, supporting us when we needed it the most. We will continue to work very hard, and eventually give something back to others.”

Tom Jackson, chair of Cerritos College Foundation Board of Directors and a long-time supporter of Cerritos College students congratulated the recipients, “as a retired Cerritos College faculty member and former member of the Cerritos College Board of Trustees, it is especially meaningful to meet a new generation of Falcons who are committed to their education. It brings us tremendous joy to recognize their hard work and accomplishments.”
