Doctoral Practicum Program
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Cerritos College Psychological Services provides short-term therapy services on campus in the Student Health & Wellness Center (SHWC). Trainees provide Cerritos College students with brief individual psychotherapy, crisis intervention, classroom presentations or workshops, and assist with Psychological Services outreach and mental health promotion events on campus. Such health promotion events may include presentations on Stress Management and Coping with the Holiday Blues.
EXPERIENCE LEVEL REQUIRED
Due to the high clinical demand of our students, trainees must have their masters degree and have had previous clinical experience to be considered for placement, with letters of recommendation from a previous clinical supervisor. Trainees must have completed previous clinical experience treating clients, preferably treating adults/young adults in academic settings. Trainees must also be able to work with diverse populations, especially Latinx, Veterans, LGBTQ, students with disabilities, and students from various cultural backgrounds. Along with multicultural sensitivity, trainees must be able to work independently and professionally in their role as doctoral trainees at Cerritos College Psychological Services.
