What is a Pitch?
Do you have an awesome business idea? A business pitch is a presentation that entrepreneurs use to deliver their business ideas to potential investors. It often includes a deck of slides that serve as a presentation aid and background, and a verbal discussion that begins as a planned talk and ends with questions and answers.
Tri-College Student Pitch Competition
The Tri-College Student Pitch Competition is open to all students currently studying at Cerritos College, Mt. SAC College, or Norco College. It provides students with the opportunity to practice presenting a business idea in front of established entrepreneurs, business experts, professionals, and community leaders. Judges will evaluate the pitches based on the market opportunity and concept validation of the business idea. The best pitches receive various awards and recognition.

Pitch Application Guidelines
(1) Create a presentation or upload a 1-2 minute video to YouTube, and complete the Google Form (https://forms.gle/nrbrXgQpEoHikgYX9) with all needed information by April 18, 2021. Your presentation or video should describe the business need or the opportunity for your product or service, explain how your business idea/product will serve the market, briefly outline your marketing/promotion plan, and include a quick summary of your financial plan.
(2) Up to ten (10) of the best student ideas will be selected for the final pitch competition. We will notify the individuals/teams by April 22, 2021. If selected as one of the finalists, you must verify that you are currently enrolled in one of the three colleges.
(3) The live Zoom pitch competition will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2021, starting at 1 p.m. Each individual or team will have up to five minutes to present their pitch before answering a series of questions posed by the judging panel. The panel will include established entrepreneurs, business experts, professionals, and community leaders. For the presentation, students should explore the following areas:
- Succinctly describe their product or service;
- Identify the target market and sales channels;
- Illustrate the competitive advantages compared to other products and services in the marketplace.
The Zoom pitch competition will be recorded.
All finalists will receive a participation certificate. The first place winner receives a cash prize of $1000, second place receives $500, and third place receives $250. If the winners are members of a team, the prize will be split evenly among all team members.
