Breast Cancer Awareness Walk Raises More Than $1,000

Breast Cancer Awareness WalkThe Cerritos College 19th Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Walk raised awareness and funds for breast cancer research and education on March 8.

With 62 participants, the walk generated $1,124 that will go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Prior to the walk event, 112 children from Child Development raised and donated $663 by selling baked goods. For having the most staff participate, Community Education received the Spirit Award.

"I can't thank you enough for the amazing years of support for our Foundation and for a great cause," said the guest speaker Linda Pura, of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

"Through the Walk, we hope to raise awareness about the disease," said Dr. Ni Bueno, assistant professor, Health Education. "It is also a great way to celebrate women on campus who have successfully won their battles against breast cancer."

Sponsored by the Cerritos College Health, Physical Education, Dance and Athletics Division, Student Health Services and Employee Development, the event is held every March as part of the College's celebration of the Women's History Month.
