In loving memory Ben Pendleton

Ben Pendleton's Life Celebrated by Campus Family

The College celebrated the life of Ben Pendleton, who left us earlier this month, on February 23. The campus family shared favorite memories of Ben and paid tribute to his contributions to the College and students.  Ben joined the district in July 1984 and worked in various positions and departments and his current assignment was as an Admissions and Records Analyst. He provided service excellence to our students, staff, and faculty, and was awarded the November 2020 Employee of the Month. Ben was a strong supporter of our student veterans and served as the Student Veterans Club advisor for a decade. Donations are being accepted for the student veterans scholarship named in honor of Ben.

All-Gender Restrooms on Campus

At last week’s Board meeting, the Board adopted a resolution to increase the number of single-stall, gender-neutral restrooms across campus. In December 2022, the ASCC presented a resolution to the Board, advocating for greater equity for students in diverse and marginalized communities. They cited an essential need for LGBTQIA+ students to have access to gender-neutral restrooms that afford privacy and safety in alignment with their gender identity. Students with disabilities will also have a greater opportunity for assistance in gender-neutral restrooms. An online map with current gender-neutral restrooms on campus is available.
