President's Spring Speaker Series Explores The Art of Being Mindful
President's Spring 2023 Speaker Series kicked off on March 3 featuring the art of being mindful by guest presenter Janice Marturano, founder and director of the Institute of Mindful Leadership. The participants examined the connection between mindfulness and leadership excellence and how to develop mindful leadership through hands-on exercises and discussions. The speaker series provides insights on how you can master the art of mental, physical, and financial health. More events are scheduled in the speaker series. College Seeks State Grant Dollars to Build Student Housing
To tackle the persistent problem of student homelessness, Cerritos College is seeking state grant funding to build affordable on-campus student housing through the Higher Education Student Housing Grant Program. In addition to its request for nearly $70 million in grant dollars, the Cerritos College Board of Trustees is also contributing $12 million... Black Healing through Sound Concludes the Black History Month Festivities
The month-long celebration of Black History Month ended with a Black Healing through Sound session on February 28. The February meeting of the Umoja Success Program Circle of Support featured the ancient practice of using sound as a means of therapy and healing. Participants enjoyed a pizza lunch followed by calming therapy bringing balance and harmony to the body and mind.
Celebrate Women's History Month
Themed “Providing Healing, Promoting Hope,” the 2023 Women’s History Month will feature various events recognizing women who have provided healing and hope throughout history, including Dr. JoAnna Schilling's Leadership Talk on Monday, March 6, 11 a.m. in PAC 107.
