Machine Tool Technology Receives $20K in Student Support Funds from Gene Haas Foundation

NORWALK, Calif. – September 27, 2018 – Cerritos College recently received a $20,000 donation from the Gene Haas Foundation
to support students enrolled in its Machine Tool Technology program.
Glenn Cheshire, district manager, Haas Factory Outlet (Torrance, CA) presented a check to Chuong Vo, chair of Machine Tool Technology at Cerritos College. The Gene Haas Foundation has been a strong supporter of the program, donating $25,000 to support Machine Tool Technology students in 2016 as well. The funds will support scholarships and credentialing for Machine Tool Technology students. The Machine Tool Technology Department at Cerritos College is one of a few premier programs in Southern California that offers machine tool training using real-world materials and projects.
“We truly appreciate the Gene Haas Foundation’s continued support,” said Vo. “This will help our students move closer to their degree or certificate of achievement.”
The Gene Haas Foundation was created in 1999 by Gene Haas, founder and president of Haas Automation, Inc., the largest machine tool manufacturer in the United States. All Haas products are manufactured at the company’s facility in Southern California, and distributed through a worldwide network of more than 170 Haas Factory Outlets.
The Gene Haas Foundation is committed to manufacturing education. Since 1999, the Gene Haas Foundation has been offering scholarships to high schools, community colleges and special educational programs that help build skills within the machining industry.
