The Physical Education (PE) program at Cerritos College has a variety of classes to fit student’s individual interests, needs, and ability levels. Classes offered in this department are provided in lecture and laboratory format to offer the student foundational learning as well as the activity based fitness component that students are looking for.
According to the CDC, "Physical Education provides cognitive content and instruction designed to develop motor skills, knowledge, and behaviors for physical activity and physical fitness." Our department is happy to offer this type of learning for you so that you can develop a health fitness habits for lifelong fitness. Our classes are focused on physical fitness, team and individual sports.
The vast majority of the classes have returned to being offered on campus with face to face instruction, but some can still be found online for those students who find this instructional method appealing. The physical education, fitness and activity facilities opened just a few years ago and are by far some of the best that can be found. There is a large weight room, fitness room, spin and fitness studio as well as gymnasium and aquatics facility to name a few.

The PE program has two goals:
- Student Completion of Associates of Arts (AA) Degree in Physical Education
The AA degree in PE is designed to support PE majors in the completion of lower division general education courses and to transfer into PE, Kinesiology, Exercise Science and Allied Health programs.
- Educate the Diverse Student Population in Health, Wellness, and Quality of Life
The PE program seeks to educate a diverse student population and promote a general knowledge of health and fitness and the importance of these attribute to overall quality of life.
