Program Outcomes

PSLOs describe graduate behaviors that will be met upon graduation in order to competently perform the competencies of the ADN graduate nurses and be prepared for entry level practice, in accordance to the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN), the American Nurse Association (ANA), Accreditation for Commission Education of Nurses (ACEN), and National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).

SLO STATEMENTS

All nursing courses design learning activities to meet Course Student Learning Outcomes (CSLOs).   The CSLOs build from simple to complex and prepare the graduate to meet the Program Student Learning Outcomes (PSLOs) by the end of the program.  CSLOs are found in Course Outline of Record, Course Syllabi, and on Course CANVAS sites.  The department has defined expected levels of achievement and has developed assessment methods to gather data on CSLOs and PSLOs.  Faculty gather data points each semester, in each course, to determine the level at which students are meeting the CSLOs and PSLOs.  After analysis of the data, curriculum improvements are made as necessary.

Course Student Learning Outcomes and Program Student Learning Outcomes align with the program’s mission and philosophy and the nursing core concepts within the curriculum framework/.  They encompass:

  • Nurse of the Future Competencies
  • Nursing Process
  • Quality and Safety in Nursing Education (QSEN) Competencies
  • Lifespan Integration
  • NCLEX-RN Test Blueprint (Client Needs Categories)

Cerritos College Nursing Program maintains partnerships with National University, CSULA, CSUF, and Chamberlain to allow students to start on their BSN degree while enrolled at Cerritos at discounted rates.

***National University is now on campus! Once a nursing student has completed their first semester, they can apply to National University to begin on their BSN coursework as well, at a discounted rate.  This partnership allows a student to work on both their AA and their BSN at the same time.  Upon graduating Cerritos with their AA, and upon completing the NCLEX-RN exam, the student can stay on campus and complete their BSN with National University within 8-12 months. 35% of our nursing students are also enrolled with National University and working on their BSN coursework as well!
