Application FAQs

What are some common questions that the Nursing Program receives from applicants?

Q: How many Option A applications do you typically receive?

A:  Anywhere from 525 - 700 / year

Q: Can LVNs apply to Option A route or only Option C and D?

A:  Yes, we highly encourage LVNs to apply to Option A.  Although we do not necessarily grant you credit for your LVN coursework, and you will complete the entire four semesters, many LVNs find this option often faster than waiting for Option C entry.  It is also a great refresher of content and practices that you may not practice regularly.  On your Option A application, you can use your LVN education / license / work experience for points.

Q:  If the program admits 50% of new students through the MultiSelective Criterion (highest points), how can I get the highest points?

A:   The highest weighted areas on the application are in gpas, TEAS score, prior degree, and work experience. If your gpa is not > 3.5, then you need to strive for a TEAS score > 75%  and also find opportunities for volunteer work, or work experience in healthcare.

Q:  What is the Point Value that I need to make it into the program "through points"?

A:  This all depends of the point values of applicants in that application cycle and who you are competing against.  However, in the past five years, the mean scores have increased each cycle.  Therefore, the "bottom point admission" has risen as well.     In 24-25 year, it was 69points; in 25-26 year, it was 72points; and in 26-27 year, it was 80 points.  (out of 100)

Q:  If I do not have high points, but I meet all of the minimal qualifications, can I still apply?

A:  Yes, absolutely!  Any student who meets minimal qualifications, and does not get selected through points, still goes into the "lottery" for random selection.  Applicants get accepted to the program with points in the 40s, 50s, etc.
