Option-E Applicant

Thank you for your interest in our Transfer (& Challenge), option (Option E) of the Cerritos College Nursing Program.  

Transfer inquiries can contact the Director of Nursing for an individualized evaluation of qualification and/or appropriate placement into the program. 

*Please note that we do not take Transfer students into 4th semester. 

**We also fully integrate Pediatrics throughout our courses.  Therefore, to ensure that you have received necessary Pediatric lecture and clinical hours required for licensure, you will need to have completed a Pediatric Course in your prior program  OR admit early enough in our program to fulfill the minimum number of clinical hours.   

If you are seeking Transfer, please complete the following to the Director of Nursing  ():

1) Cover letter requesting transfer to the ASN program explaining the reason for the request and standing in current/previous program.

2) Unofficial transcripts of ALL colleges attended.  These will be used to document the successful completion of all prerequisite courses.

3) Unofficial transcripts of ALL nursing courses completed at current program.  Also include Course Outlines and Syllabi for completed courses. 

4) Official high school transcripts showing date of graduation, completion of California High School Proficiency Examination, or verified copy of G.E.D. test results (transcript of any college-level degree may be substituted for this requirement).

5) TEAS or HESI Exam Results

6) A letter from the nursing program director of the previous school, regarding applicant's standing in the program.  


Students are ineligible for enrollment in Cerritos College Nursing Program if they have been dismissed from any program for any of the following circumstances:

Positive drug screen for cause
Criminal background issue during program
Unsafe clinical practice
Gross negligence resulting in actual or potential harm to client or family
Verbal threat of physical harm (assault)
Physical violence (battery)
Falsifying the medical record
Carrying a weapon or illicit drugs/drug paraphernalia
Stealing from clinical site, college, or faculty
Rejection for clinical placement by a clinical affiliate


Students who withdraw for academic insufficiency or a non-academic failure during any semester of the Nursing Programs after having entered with a history of failing from another nursing program, are not eligible for enrollment. Participation in and/or dismissal from another nursing program, must be disclosed.
