Areté - The Center for Reading and Writing in Philosophy

Areté is the tutoring center just for Philosophy! Stop by and get help with reading, writing, and logic.

For Fall 2026, Arete will open for philosophy tutoring on Sept 8th on the following days and times:

Mon & Tues: 9:30 am to 11:30 am in SS-16 (in the basement of Social Science) and online
Wed: 4pm to 6pm online only

$500 BLOOMFIELD SCHOLARSHIP ESSAY

The Bloomfield Scholarship Award is given to a student who exemplifies outstanding scholarly qualities in the study of philosophy. This Scholarship application window opens in March 2026.
