“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, a place to play and pray… nature may heal and give strength to the body and soul.”

- John Muir

The landscape is a holder of memories. I created these images using a Hasselblad with black and white negative film. The negatives are scanned, and archival digital prints are produced. Long exposures during fog, morning or evening light, seeing what the eye cannot, generate a new experience of place. These are places to rest, breathe, contemplate, regenerate within and heal the soul. The images of Ocean Drive in Newport RI are part of the Coastal Landscape Series. Ocean drive runs approximately 10 miles along the southern shore of Newport RI overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. This was a favorite spot of the wealthy summer residents of the mansions in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and a favorite spot of mine and my mother. Mother passed away in June 2019, I had to go to The Drive and make these images as this is my holder of memories and place of healing.
