Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month
From September 15th to October 15th, Cerritos College proudly recognizes Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month, a dedicated time to honor the rich histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of these communities in the United States and throughout Latin America. Rooted in the independence anniversaries of several Latin American countries, this month-long celebration reflects the diversity and richness of the Latinx/Hispanic experience.
At Cerritos College, we invite our campus community to come together to learn, celebrate, reflect, and engage with the many histories, traditions, and voices that shape our community. Throughout the month, we encourage students, faculty, staff, and campus partners to participate in events, explore educational resources, and discover opportunities to read, watch, listen, share, and connect.
Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month is also an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the many contributions of our Latinx/Hispanic students, faculty, staff, and community members. As a Hispanic-Serving Institution, Cerritos College is committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment where all students can thrive, while supporting opportunities that promote academic achievement, personal growth, cultural identity, and professional development.
Whether you are exploring Latinx/Hispanic history and culture for the first time, deepening your understanding of the community, or reconnecting with your own heritage, we hope this celebration provides opportunities for insight, connection, solidarity, and inspiration. We invite the Cerritos College community to honor the past, celebrate the present, and continue building a more inclusive future together.
