Psychology Students Present at Research Convention

Research presentationCerritos College psychology students presented their research projects at the virtual 100th annual Western Psychological Association (WPA) conference.

Students Jocelyne Vargas, Gloria Kim, Roshni Choksi, Ana-Luz Murphy, Kalvin Rosales, Latasha Kirkland & Kimberley Duff conducted and presented research on Undergraduates' self-efficacy for transferable skills and their relation to interpersonal communication and experience. Roshni Chokis, Iriana De La Grana, Esmeralda Campos, Liana Valenzuela, & Sumalya Kasem conducted research on Level of processing and associations with emotions.

"Being at the conference was one step closer to what I want to achieve in education," said Roshni Choksi. "I was able to build on my networking skills and share information. I learned about programs that other graduate schools offer. It gave me confidence and made believe that I can be a researcher one day."

The virtual conference was held both synchronously and asynchronously with about 2000 attendees.

"We are so proud of these students for completing their research and persevering during this time to ensure that they were able to disseminate their research findings at a professional conference," said Dr. Kimberley Duff. "Conducting scientific research and presenting at a conference speaks volumes to the skills that these undergraduates have developed that will serve them well as they continue along their academic path."
