Senate Budget
The Faculty Senate budget supports the official operations, responsibilities, and activities of the Cerritos College Faculty Senate. These public funds also support conference participation by Senate leadership. All expenditures must be directly connected to carrying out the work of the Faculty Senate.
Appropriate Uses of Faculty Senate Funds
Faculty Senate funds may support:
- Senate Operations & Activities, including materials, supplies, refreshments, and other resources necessary to conduct
Senate business; activities and initiatives carried out by the Faculty Senate or its
committees; and Senate-sponsored awards, plaques, and other forms of faculty recognition.
- Senate Leadership Development & Conference Participation, including participation by Senate leadership in Academic Senate for California Community Colleges (ASCCC) Plenary Sessions, Area Meetings, leadership conferences, workshops, or professional-development activities that support their Senate leadership responsibilities, as well as participation by faculty serving in an established Faculty Senate-appointed position when necessary to carry out the responsibilities of that position.
Faculty funding Requests
The Faculty Senate budget is not a general funding resource for faculty to apply for or request. Faculty seeking funding for materials, supplies, equipment, food or refreshments, events, conferences, workshops, professional development, or other resources that are not connected to the work of the Faculty Senate or its committees should contact their division or another appropriate College funding source.
Budget & Compliance Information
- Public Funds & Senate Business: The Faculty Senate budget is funded through the District's General Fund (Budget Code:
01.0 01300) and consists of public funds allocated for Faculty Senate purposes. Accordingly,
Faculty Senate expenditures must be for official Senate business and are subject to
Article XVI, Section 6 of the California Constitution, which prohibits gifts of public
funds. Senate funds shall not be used to provide money, goods, services, or other
things of monetary value for the private benefit of an individual, or to support activities
unrelated to the official work of the Faculty Senate.
