NORWALK, Calif. - January 10, 2024 - The Cerritos College Economic Development Center for Corporate Training received a $500,000 grant from the California Employment Training Panel (ETP).
The grant will allow the college to provide employee training to assist local and regional employers in staying competitive, increasing productivity, and retaining highly skilled workers. The college will collaborate with businesses and the ETP to deliver responsive workplace education and customized training programs that enhance employees' job skills and organizational commitment.
The majority of upskill training is delivered onsite at the employer's worksite. The ETP grant may offset the training costs with no additional outside costs to eligible employers.
“We are excited to have been awarded funding geared towards investing in the education and growth of our local labor force,” said Belle Gomez, director of community advancement and economic development.
The college’s Economy Development Center for Corporate Training has a proven record as a premier training provider serving businesses in the region. Every year, the Center offers various trainings, from office to technical skills, serving over 1,200 employees in collaboration with local companies such as LeFiell Manufacturing, Bristol Farms, Weber Metals, Marukan Vinegar, and many others.
These training offerings help the employees receive promotions, wage increases, and other opportunities to improve their job skill sets.
Local businesses interested in the Center’s employee training programs may call (562) 860-2451 x2510 or x2511 or visit www.CerritosTrainsU.com.
