FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 28, 2026
Media Contact: Aya Aoki; Public Relations and Communications

WHAT: The Cerritos College Music Department will present a free Commercial Music Showcase on Saturday, February 7. The concert will transform the stage into a real-world training platform for the next generation of entertainment industry leaders, giving students the opportunity to debut original work and manage a large-scale live production.
Two student bands, The Psycho Kittens and Shade, will perform original sets alongside a multimedia presentation of Professor Dr. Andrew Maz’s new album, Terra. The event also features interdisciplinary collaboration among students and alumni from the music, dance, film, and theatre departments.
The showcase serves as more than a concert. Students and alumni manage every aspect of production, including staging, lighting design, sound engineering, and multi-camera filming. This hands-on approach allows students to apply their technical training in a live, high-pressure environment and build career-ready experience in the entertainment industry.
While the concert is free to the public, Terra will be available for purchase at the venue. All proceeds from album sales will support the commercial music scholarship fund, benefiting students pursuing careers in the arts.
