Rolling Blackout
Dear Colleagues,
Please read the entirety of this message as it contains information about on-campus emergency preparedness.
Given the demand on the power grid in California, we want to be prepared to accommodate the needs of our students and employees. In the event Cerritos College experiences a power outage from a rolling blackout, we would like to provide the following guidelines:
Working remotely will only go into effect if the District issues a RAVE Alert. You
will receive this alert via text and/or email.
Those courses that can be taught remotely may transition to remote instruction. Those
courses that cannot be taught remotely will be cancelled.
There may be instances in which an instructor wishes to teach a course remotely but
not able to. For example, during the time the course is to be taught, the instructor
is driving home after the campus has lost power. In another instance, an instructor
may arrive home in plenty of time to teach the course only to find that his or her
power has been shut off as well. In instances like these, the course would be cancelled
as well.
Offices that are able to work remotely can transition to work remotely. Those who
wish to work on campus may continue to do so.
Only essential personnel will be required to remain on campus which include the following
departments:
Campus Police personnel
Facilities personnel
Warehouse personnel
We will take precautionary measures to ensure safety for those who remain on campus.
Working remotely is only temporary during a power outage. Once power has been restored, we will return to back to campus the following day. Please let me know if you have questions.
