Computer Lab Policies

Use and Conduct Policies for Library Computers
Computers are provided for the instructional use of Cerritos College students, faculty, and staff. Four computers are also available in the reference area for community users on a first-come, first-served basis. Community users may be asked to leave a workstation if students are waiting. To ensure that everyone enjoys the maximum benefit of these computers, the following policies apply:

The College's Student Conduct Policy (see the College Catalog) applies in the Learning Resource Center. Patrons are expected to be courteous and respectful.

  • Please help keep the library QUIET.
  • If you need to take a phone call, please step outside to not bother your fellow classmates.
  • NO FOOD at computer stations. Drinks must be in sealed or covered containers.
  • Use of these workstations is on a first-come, first-served basis. Workstations may not be reserved. If you leave the workstation for any reason, the station will be open for others to use.
  • Use common sense and discretion in selecting web sites which clearly would be offensive to other patrons.
  • Display of certain material in a public area may be a violation of the College's Sexual Harassment Policy
    Illegal file-sharing of copyrighted material is strictly prohibited.

Use and Conduct Policies for Study Rooms

  • No food or snacks allowed.
  • Rooms are to be used for student academic purposes only.
  • Reservations that are not claimed within 10 minutes may be forfeited.
  • Persons may continue using rooms after their reservation if there are no following reservations but may be asked to relinquish the room any time after the 2-hour limit.
  • Please do not book a Large Room unless you have more than 4 participants in your group.
  • Furniture must stay in the room. Furniture may not be removed or added to the study rooms.
  • Please be aware that loud conversations can be heard outside the rooms. Please be considerate.
  • Pick up after yourself! Please leave the room in the same condition you found it.
    Personal items in any room vacated for over 20 minutes or during a reserved time will be taken to lost and found.
  • Please take phone calls outside of the library. 

 

VIOLATION OF ANY of the above policies may result in the following:

  • Patrons may be directed to discontinue use of a workstation or study room.
  • Patrons may lose privileges to use workstations or study rooms.
  • Violations may be referred to the Cerritos College Council of Judicial Affairs.
