Students Who Begin Fall 2025 and Beyond
Cerritos College GE Patterns for students starting Fall 2025
Cerritos General Education Curriculum (CGEC)
Primarily for students interested in completing a local Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree to prepare for a vocational career upon graduation.
Students pursuing an AA or AS may choose to follow Cal-GETC instead of CGEC.
2026-2027 CGEC
2025-2026 CGEC
For use of Advanced Placement Exams to meet AA or AS General Education requirements, please refer to the 2025-2026 Cerritos College.
California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC)
Primarily for students interested in completing an Associate Degree for Transfer (AA-T or AS-T) or transferring to a CSU or UC.
Completing Cal-GETC will permit students to transfer to all CSUs and most UC campuses and programs without the need for additional lower-division coursework to be completed after transfer.
Students are strongly encouraged to meet with a counselor prior to transfer to discuss Cal-GETC requirements and whether or not it is appropriate for their educational goal and based on previous college credit they may have earned.

For information about external exams like Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB), please visit the External Exams webpage.
Regardless of continuous attendance, for a course to be counted toward Cal-GETC, it must have been approved for the academic year in which it was successfully completed. While rare, courses are sometimes removed from a transfer GE list. For example, effective Fall 2026, PSYC 262 and POLS 280 cannot be applied to the Ethnic Studies area of CSU GE-Breadth, IGETC, or Cal-GETC (Areas F, 7, and 6 respectively); and CHIN 102 cannot be applied to the Humanities area of IGETC or Cal-GETC (Area 3B).
For a complete listing of courses and their approval dates, please the ASSIST website.
Students eligible to follow IGETC may use Cal-GETC-approved courses in the same IGETC area(s)—whether newly created or newly approved as of Fall 2025.
Students following Cal-GETC and who completed IGETC-approved courses prior to Fall 2025 may apply those courses in the same Cal-GETC area(s).
